Bowen Island is a small island town a quick 20 minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver. It offers incredible nature, a small town vibe and is usually much quieter than anywhere close to the city. Ingrid and Preston chose to have their wedding at the super outdoorsy Wildwood Cabins, a collection of 5 cabins nestled in the forest. Usually, these cabins are rented out individually but Ingrid and Preston were able to rent them all for their intimate wedding onsite with permission from the owner. While this wasn’t a typical wedding venue, it worked perfectly for their intimate wedding and was a dream to photograph!

After the getting ready, we made our to Wildwood’s lookout which had incredible views of the ocean and valley below. This was where we chose to do the first look as well as the ceremony.

Ingrid first reached out to me because she connected with photos of a coastal elopement I photographed a couple of years ago at Whytecliff Park. For their photoshoot we decided to try finding somewhere with a similar kind of look. After figuring out the position of the sun at the time we’d be shooting and a whole bunch of google image research, we landed on a secluded beach 10 minutes away from their venue. The wedding day was wrapped up with a sunset barbecue dinner made by the bride and groom’s parents.
